My Baby is 7 Today

7 years ago, we had moved into this house on Mother's Day and I was due August 24 with my 5th child. It was quite a summer I must say. My first summer in Arizona with a pool. Yes, I suffered as a child. (Little did I know how much work they are) We were in the pool every day I think that summer. It was a novelty for all of us (except my Mr. Man) It felt so good to be weightless! I remember Jefferson always moved around a lot when I'd be in the pool. Little did I know at the end of July, that he would go breach on me! First kid of mine that did that. My Doc was confident he could turn him even at this late stage. After being admitted to the hospital, getting all wired up in case of delivery, the ultrasound showed that Jefferson had flipped back around. To the answer of many prayers and a grateful Mom.

I won't go into labor stories here, almost Labor Day, ha! But he was a week late and a whopping 10 pounds. Unbeknownst to the Doc. And we're so happy he was fat and happy!

Last year Jefferson didn't want to go to Hawaii for his 6th birthday. See pics HERE, he wanted to go to Peter Piper Pizza. So tomorrow, he will have his wish!

Tried getting that thumb in farther!

My Man and my baby

Oh , it does a wife's heart good. A Mama's too. (if you click on the photos, you'll see them larger and see his golden curls. But I think his shorts are crooked and Alex's piano music of Voldemort is on the piano. Oh well, it was a sweet moment.)

Purity Podcast

Here is my talk with Donna Otto on the Homemakers by Choice podcast.

2 parts on Purity/Modesty. I'm always amazed how God blesses our time together and gives me what I need to say when I need to say it. I hope you find that too. And to say we have fun doing the podcasts is a great blessing too. You'll hear our laughter which comes from a long history we have, 14 years. Most importantly I hope you are challenged to guard your childrens' hearts and to help them stay pure in this fleshly world.

I have a booklist I will post, as soon as I find it. But the podcasts are free, so click on OnePlace below.

Aaah, squishy under foot.

The short pile with the tiny squares is in the hall, stairs and living room downstairs. I think it will do well on high traffic areas. The other is in the bedrooms and is really squishy and won't show spots, not that anyone sneaks, I mean eats food upstairs!
Before, eewwwww
After, aaahhhh

What a long day. 10 hours the carpet installers were here. Yesterday and this morning until 9:30, we prepared. Clearing off dressers, nightstands, bed linens, closet floors and under beds. We have WAAAAAYYYYY too much stuff, even for 7 people!

But I am WAAAYYYY too tired to go upstairs and get my camera to download pictures.

If I can get to the tub, that's my first priority right now, and at least the beds are reassembled and ready for sleepy time...

Pics tomorrow!

Back to the Real World

Dream Fastpasses!!!
Woohoo, it's our 3rd time getting these!!! They're so great to have.

We got home safely last night. Thank You Lord!! I'm so grateful for the time we had as a family, even though it was only one day just us. But what great times with the Shepherds and Mohlers!!

Jim's hobby.... MAGIC TRICKS! He's fun to have with you at Disneyland, sometimes we can even get in the fast pass line when he entertains the troops! Jim sidelines as a seminary prof and Chairman of Biblical and Theological Studies at Biola.

The Happiest Place on Earth... no crowds!

I think this was the first time we went to Disneyland with my brother's family. My nephew will be 20 in September. Time has a way of zooming along. It was an empty beautiful morning. Got there early to miss the crowds and do Indiana Jones and Space Mountain. Both were closed filming commercials. Thanks Disney! But we still got to do Indiana Jones later.

Almost Done...

Well, had a little snag with the cabinets doors Friday. They are new, alder and he stained them. But they didn't match the oak boxes he had primed, painted and glazed. Monday he tried again and we decided he would have to repaint the boxes which he did today. I'm very happy with the outcome. Love the corbels and rosette he made at the end of the island. He even had to change the moulding on the floor board to do it. So beautiful. So it's a richer brown than the flat brown I had originally chosen.

Heat and Headaches

It's that time of year here in the Valley of the Sun. August. The hottest month and the longest it seems. Migraines are a funny thing, just when you think you have it figured out, they surprise you. An ENT who suffers from them once told me the trick is to figure out when to constrict the vessels and when to get them to open up. That IS the trick. I know heat and getting myself overheated (and I'm not talking about when my kids misbehave!) must open them up and then a constrictor like caffeine and cool rags help. So then, why does caffeine sometimes trigger them too?

Going to a wonderful chiropractor that was recommended by a dear friend. Not a new thing for me, but it has been a while. I think his working on me has opened up those vertebrae and started things working again. God really is creative. To think all the messages from the brain flow through our spines to different organs is so amazing. And we don't really take good care of our spines through life, starting with the rude yank into the world on our birthday. So it makes good sense to start with the central nervous system. Hence the word 'central'. That's where a lot of problems originate. I'm hoping we'll find my migraine answer!

If you Google Migraines, you wouldn't believe the stuff you'd find!! It'd give you a headache. But I found this site interesting. Avoid Migraines.
It was a little disconcerting to read that you kill brain cells each time you have an 'episode' and to do whatever you can to get rid of your migraine and to stop having them all together. Riiiighht. That would be good. I do need to up my Riboflavin intake, in the past that has made a difference for me and anything to help the adrenals is good. I have stopped doing both of those, and well, here I am again. The good news is my blood pressure hasn't been high at all since losing the 30 pounds. Thank You Lord!
